JASON MILLER

STONE’S THROW

MARCH 6th-19TH, 2026, 7-10pm

Stone’s Throw is the debut solo exhibition of Thunder Bay based artist Jason Miller.

This exhibition celebrates the natural beauty of the Thunder Bay District, offering a visual tribute to the region’s distinctive landscapes, and the animals that call them home. Drawing inspiration from locations such as Quetico Provincial Park, Aguasabon Gorge, and the many places in between; Stone’s Throw reflects on the quiet grandeur found within close reach of home.

Through these oil paintings, Miller invites viewers to reconnect with familiar landscapes while encouraging curiosity and exploration of the natural world. The works are rooted in a sense of place, highlighting the privilege of living amid such expansive and largely untouched wilderness. As the artist notes, “I hope that through my paintings, I can evoke memories of familiar places and encourage the exploration of new ones.”

His work often begins with photography, taken while hiking and exploring Northwestern Ontario. He then translates these photos into paintings, seeking to capture not only the visual qualities of a place, but its emotional resonance. Stone’s Throw marks Miller’s first solo exhibition and reflects his ongoing exploration of landscape, memory, and place.
