Co.Lab Gallery presents

Martin King’s

EVERYDAY DISTRACTIONS

FRIDAY OCTOBER 28TH, 2022 6-10PM

EXHIBTION CLOSES OCTOBER 30TH

Co.Lab Gallery is proud to present Martin King's first solo exhibition "Everyday Distractions”. King’s exhibit expands the boundaries of the still & reality-life trope, utilizing pop culture as a medium itself. Martin's work transforms the everyday stills of popular media into poetic tableaus comprising unusual, sometimes surreal juxtapositions (Carly Rae & DMX!?), which defy immediate rational interpretation. We love this about Martin’s work.  He engages the viewer in a self reflective dialogue over potential meanings and with humour he illuminates the impacts of our consumer, media saturated stroll through life. Happy 2022!

Martin King is an Ojibway multi-media artist from Thunder Bay, Ontario with family roots in Gull Bay First Nation and Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation. In 2010 he graduated from the Film program at Confederation College. Soon after, he dove into the arts and media community in a variety of ways including: directing, acting, and animation all alongside an avid studio practice in Visual Arts. Martin has exhibited in dozens of shows primarily at Definitely Superior Art Gallery and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery.
